360 waterfall

Tinkers Falls is still frozen.
(Try moving this image around with your mouse.)

Haha I got my feet in that picture, by mistake. There are a few people etching their names into the wall.

same photo, flattened:

Here are the public photo spheres I’ve put up. It’s fun!

trees

Planted a few trees today. And played with video cameras.

good morning

Taken early morning, on the hill (Quintard) en route to a Highland Forest group morning run, with Dhiki.

Green Lakes

We’ve spent a lot of time running around these lakes this summer. Didn’t make it swimming or rowing.

excursion

to Cortland and back the long way. The breakfast room is Dan’s new rental house. The Amish photos are Paul’s stealth photography (with my computer edits). The mastadon was spotted near DeRuyter Lake, and I offer no explanation other than a link to the artist’s site. The squirrel is licking peanut butter from a cracker. The alpacas look recently shorn.

cucumber

A cucumber and cherry tomatoes from the garden at Clay-house:

A few days later, we ate him.
Sad, but inevitable
(and delicious).

chasing the moon

The Super Moon is ever so slightly bigger from our viewpoint, but also it is up at dusk, so the goal was to try to get a nice reflective water shot with the moon. But we were kicked out of parks at dusk, along with many other tripod-carrying moon-chasers. These photos are from two evenings of moon-chasing: Alviso and Horseshoe Lake Open Space Preserve.

sunrise

A brief moment of red.

waterfall

Playing with long exposure, HDR, effects. I should have photographed this at dusk. The little bits of frozen ice within the flowing water make a nice contrast of hardness and softness.
It’s too warm here for February; the buds are out and green algae is in the water. (And that’s Swiffer the cat.)

The last three photos were taken at dusk at Green Lakes SP, Syr, after a nice run there. There isn’t much ice and there is no snow. Maybe tomorrow it will snow.

thin ice

Clark Reservation: It’s unusually warm for end of January. We saw a couple ice skating on the ice- probably not a good idea!! Here I’m playing with taking multiple exposures of a scene and layering them together using masks (HDR). A few of these are processed like that, so that the sky is not washed out and there are details in the shadows. Probably the best example is the last photo, in which Dhiki is reading Walden, by Thoreau, for her class.

another sunrise

It might rain today, finally. I believe this month has been the most dry December on record in this area.

muir woods

Flew to JFK, then drove to Muir Woods via Golden Gate Bridge.

long exposures

Clark Reservation & Fiddler’s Green, both Jamesville, NY.
